Reuse is the New Recycle

Residential Recycling

Our donation hours are Tuesday-Saturday, 10:00am to 5:00pm. Our donations sites are not open on Sunday or Mondays (but our ReUse Stores are!). Please do not drop off items outside the building.

We accept a wide variety of of items; computers of course, but also everything from coffee makers and toasters to the cardboard box they came in. We refurbish everything we can and have a no landfill policy so all obsolete/non-repairable items are recycled with Oregon Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) approved processors.

We accept almost all electronic devices (working or not) and office furniture for free, but there are a few items we must charge for. Please see out lists of fees and items accepted. If you have further questions, please call us at 686-2366 ext 118.

We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Most donations are tax deductible.

What happens to the hard drives and personal data?
If your hard drive is smaller than 2 GB, it will be dismantled (rendered completely unusable) and sent as scrap to be melted down for metal recovery. If your hard drive is 2 GB or larger, it will be cleared according to the National Institute of Standards and Technlogy (NIST) Guidelines for Media Sanitization. This writes a completely random series of "0"s and "1"s to all disk sectors, overwriting your personal data. If you have data you need to save, please do so before you donate your computer.

I'm an individual, can I still donate?
Yes! In fact, individual donors like you are what allow NextStep to provide this service to the community. NextStep provides tax deductions based on fair market value for individual donors as well as large companies. Shipping costs may also tax deductible, consult your tax advisor. NextStep does not estimate the fair market value; that is up to the donor, as required by law.
